Q: I currently own a home. Is there any type of tax credit available for me?
A: Yes! Thanks to The Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009, you may be eligible for up to a $6500 tax credit.

Q: What are the basic requirements for qualifying for the $8000 first time home buyer tax credit?
A:

  •  You must be a "first time home buyer - The law defines “first-time home buyer” as a buyer who has not owned a principal residence during the three-year period prior to the purchase.
  • The tax credit is equal to 10 percent of the home’s purchase price up to a maximum of $8,000.
  • The tax credit now applies to sales occurring on or after January 1, 2009 and on or before April 30, 2010. However, in cases where a binding sales contract is signed by April 30, 2010, a home purchase completed by June 30, 2010 will qualify.
  • The income limit for single taxpayers is $125,000; the limit is $225,000 for married taxpayers filing a joint return. A reduced credit amount is still available to those earning over these limits.

Q: Is there anyway to be "green" and also save some money doing so?
A: Yes, there are a lot of tax incentives both on a state and federal level that can save you money in monthly expenses,  your tax bill, make you more comfortable, and give you the warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you are helping the environment and the economy!
