Q: Is there anyway to be "green" and also save some money doing so?
A: Yes! There are a lot of tax incentives both on a state and federal level that can save you money in monthly expenses,  your tax bill, make you more comfortable, and give you the warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you are helping the environment and the economy!
Currently the State of North Carolina gives a 35% tax credit for photovoltaic systems and geothermal heating systems. The federal government give 30% on top of that.
